The Congregation on BBC TV!

Back in November, a BBC film crew came to Chicago and filmed us performing live at Reggies for an episode of their documentary series “Horizon”. The episode debuted on BBC Two last night, but for our stateside fans we’ve got the web exclusive:

Hey Congregation Nation…we recently finished mixing with Matt DeWine at Pieholden Suite Sound and Record Collection is now in the hands of Carl Saff who is putting the final touches on the masters. The next step in bringing you this new album is pressing vinyl! We need a little help scraping up the dough to pay for this though, so we’re putting on a fundraiser concert at Martyrs on Friday, March 6th. Joining us will be fellow Pieholden alums Antony and the Tramps. DJ Bashert will be keeping things going between sets. Tickets are available now at We hope to see you there! xoxo, The Congregation

Free Show/BBC Documentary Filming!

This Friday, 11/21/14, we are playing a FREE SHOW at Reggies Music Joint. The show is being filmed for a BBC documentary series called Horizon! Come on down to Reggies and join us for the special performance! It’s an EARLY SHOW–the band will play from 8:30PM-9:30PM. Sorry kids its 21 and older only.

That Suite Sound

Hey all, we wanted to give you a little update on what’s going on with the new album. Back in February we spent our first weekend at Pieholden Suite Sound. During that weekend, we tracked 5 songs to analog tape–Record Collection, Under My Skin, Sentimental One, They Will Fall and Gonna Get You Back–if you’ve been to a recent show you’ve probably heard one or two of them! Since then we’ve been back for a number of sessions and have completed all of our overdubs on the first half of the album. We’ve also been getting the next batch of songs ready to lay down in August. We still have a lot of work to do–more recording before mixing, mastering and finally pressing onto vinyl! It’s too soon to say when we’ll be done, but we are working to get it out to you guys as soon as possible (but not before it’s ready).

P.S. We’ll be back on stage at FitzGerald’s Nightclub in Berywn, IL on Saturday, June 14th. Come out and see us!

Next week we hit The Empty Bottle for the first ever Bottle Hop! We’ll be joined by The Tenders (a 1950s rock & roll cover band featuring our own Dan Wendt on Drums, Charlie Wayne on guitar and Erik Eiseman on sax, as well as members of The Sometimes Family, The Laureates and Warm Ones), Jon Williams & The Chandelier Swingers and DJ Dan Maloney. Music starts at 9PM. We’ll be on ’round midnight.

Save the date…
December 20, 2013.
